How to be a great communicator?

Hi everyone,

It has been a while since I wrote on my BLOG. A lot of stuff happening lately. Easter with family, my wife and friends. A lot of fun having my beautiful wife home:) Truly enjoyable.
It is another gorgeous day in Winnipeg, MB. Hot and sunny the spring has definately arrived. Can`t wait to go golfing!!

Today I thought I should drop into the Law of Connection.

What is the Law of Connection? The Law of Connection states that when two people are in rapport they will have better connection. from Michael Losiers book The Law of Connection.

The law of connection is simply when you have good rapport with people you have a better connection, when you have bad report with someone your connection are worse.

People are separated into 4 different Communication styles: Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Digital.

Visual Style:
  • See things in pictures
  • Memorize by creating visual pictures in their mind
  • Learn Quickly
  • Get bored easily when they have no plans
  • Value time, so they like things to start and end punctually
  • Prefer getting "The Big Picture" rather than the details
If you are a visual communicator you use this words often:
Focus, Imagine, Look, See, Show, Visualize, Illustrate, Clear/clearly, Clarify, Picture, Bright, Appear, Dull/hazy, View/scan and Enlighten.
If this words are very familiar to you. You are a Visual communicator.

Auditory Style:

  • Remember what they hear - Word for Word
  • Learn by listening and often don`t take notes
  • Are good story tellers
  • Talk to themselves when working or consentrating (You can often hear them making sounds like ahh, hmmmm, oooh and ummmm)
If you are a auditory communicator you use this words often:
Resonate, Harmony, Repeat, Tune In, Buzz, Discuss, Ringing, Listen, Sound, Noisy, Whisper, Tune, Hear/heard, Say, Babble, Clicking, Quiet and Earshot.

Kinesthetic Style:

  • Often speak slowly
  • Learn best through doing
  • Need time to "feel their way" through new information
  • May say that they "feel" something is either right or wrong when asked to make decision
  • Have a tendency to take time to take time to "settle into" a new environment or situation or to nest
If you are a kinesthetic communicator you use this words often:
Feel, Firm, Together, Relationship, Touch, Connect, Press, Catch, Hard, Complete, Fun, Soft, Play, Numb, Stumble, Fit, Strike, Comfortable and Grasp/Handle.

Digital Style:

  • Memorize by steps and sequences
  • Process information in a methodical, rational and logical way
  • Are very detail oriented
  • Have a strong need to make sense of the world around them
  • Learn by working things out in their mind
  • Need time to process new information
If you are a digital communicator you use this words often:
Perceive, Consider, Detail, Know, Describe, Figure Out, Process, Logical, Conceive, Change, Sequence, First/Last, Think, Thought, Rational, Decide and Understand.

That is a quick overview over the different styles we humans use to communicate with each other.

Now you have something to look for when you communicate with others and you probably have found out witch way you communicate. I love to use the law of connection. It is fun and you get a better connection with your friends, family, business partners, customers, students and co-workers.

I will come back to you all with deeper view into how to build report with all the people you surround yourself with. But now you know why you feel or dislike someone that you have met. It is because you have different communication styles.

It is going to be fun to go through the trip to become the master of The Law of Connection.

Have a great day everyone,

John Thore Stub Sneisen
